Telling HerStory 2014: North Carolina Quilts

North Carolina Quilts Edited by Ruth Haislip Roberson

What's it about:

North Carolina Quilts is based on a statewide quilt documenting project. 10,000 quilts were brought in to be documented by the North Carolina Quilt Project from 1985-1986 and this books provides a sample. Search these pages for a history of quilting in the state plus images of quilts, their makers, and biographical information. "This magnificent volume features color photographs of more than 100 quilts crafted in North Carolina between the early nineteenth century and 1976" (from back cover).


Why you should read it:

I realize you may not have any interest in North Carolina but many states did these books and they are a treasure trove of genealogical/historical information about women.
