Women's History Month 2019: Lineage Society Directory

Was your female ancestor a member of a lineage society? I'm always surprised at how many have existed in the United States.  Obviously, because they are membership groups, they had need of a directory so that members could contact each other. Sometimes these directories include the whole country and not just a city or small region.

One example of a linage directory is this 1908 directory for the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution available on Hathi Trust. (Below is the embedded book which you can click on to turn the pages or use the link above to see the book).

This directory is broken up by state and includes member names, husband's first name if married, membership number, and address.

These are sources you might find online via digitized book websites, in libraries, or in archival collections.
