Women's History Month 2022: Elements of Genealogical Analysis

In this first week of Women's History Month, we are looking at genealogy methodology books for your reference library.

Title: Elements of Genealogical Analysis

Author: Robert Charles Anderson, FASG

Publisher: New England Historic Genealogical Society

Synopsis: "This handbook presents a step-by-step process for solving genealogical problems-a methodology thirty years in the making. Developed by Anderson and perfected through his work on the Great Migration, this systematic approach prompts you to consider each source, each record, and each possible linkage before coming to a genealogical conclusion. Clearly defined tools and logically ordered steps help to make this method both accessible and effective. Examples of actual research problems and continuing case studies, accompanied by easy-to-follow diagrams walk you through the steps of effective genealogical analysis."

Chapters include Source Analysis, Record Analysis, linkage Analysis, Problem Analysis, and Problem Resolution.

Why You Need This Book: It's not enough to know where there are records. If you are going to do good genealogical research you need to understand how to analyze. While this book isn't about female ancestors, it is about how to analyze your research taught in a clear manner by someone who has spent decades researching and analyzing.
