Last night I gave a presentation for Legacy Webinars. Written in Stone: In-Depth Study of a Gravestone encouraged researchers to really study their ancestor's gravestone to get all of the information they could from it.
Cemeteries of the Eastern Sierra by Gena Philibert-Ortega
Today, I want to encourage you to take a second look at her burial marker. Make sure that you understand all that it reveals. Go beyond the name and dates, if possible, and see if there are any other clues to her life.
Consider:
- What information is inscribed on the gravestone?
- What images appear on the gravestone?
- What organizational information is included?
- What verse or poetry is inscribed?
- Who is in her Cemetery FAN Club (who is buried near her)?
