There are a number of magazine types that focus on women. They include:
- General

- Religious
- Poetry and Literature
- Specific to a population (farmer's wives, for example)
- Specific to an occupation
- Specific to an organization (the Red Cross, for example).
Magazines are a great source for social history. Digitized book websites and other digital collections include historic periodicals.
